Bordeaux and the Wine Route
“Bordeaux is classic, bourgeois and comfortable”, just clichés! Bordeaux has changed a lot in recent years. The quays have been renovated, and they have become a beautiful promenade, nothing to do with the Paris quays on Sundays, for pedestrians, cyclists, rollerbladers? It is a real lung, in the heart of the largest city in Aquitaine. The city hall forced the owners to renovate the facades, which highlighted the exceptional heritage of the city (listed for several years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Bordeaux is definitely beautiful, but it is also delicious! Eat Baillardran caneles, have lunch at La Tupina. It is simply a pleasure, and all this accompanied by a good glass of Bordeaux. When it comes to wine, you are spoiled by choice, Medoc, Pauillac, Saint-Estephe, Margauk. So many names, each better known than the next, that you just want to visit them. Visit Absolutely, the village of Saint-Emilion, and try it, in moderation!
Arcachon pool
Formerly called the “Little Sea” (150 km of water at high tide anyway), it is a favorite destination of Bordeaux. It is an exceptional place, which should not be missed when visiting Aquitaine. On the seashore, the Arkahona Boat Federation offers more than pleasant excursions. From the mainland, there are two beautiful views of the basin. On the one hand, the Dune du Pila, which is the highest sand dune in Europe and stretches for almost 3 km, offers a double view of the Landes basin and the forest. On the other hand, the lighthouse Cap Ferret (258 lucky steps), which gives the impression that it is located at the end of the world, between the basin and the Atlantic Ocean. You are spoiled for choice by accommodation: there is a gig, a villa with a swimming pool or simply a camp (at 33). But one tip, book early, you won’t be the only one going!
Basque coast
The famous and recognized Basque coast will not leave you indifferent. It stretches from Anglet to Muskis, near Bilbao (Spain). As soon as you land on this country, you will feel the Basque identity through gastronomy and culture. It is also exhibited in shop windows and shop windows, hence the undeniable success of the “64” brand. Discover or rediscover the mythical places of this coast, such as Biarritz or Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and let the desire lead you inland, to discover even new places, new sensations. Enjoy your stay in Aquitaine!
